Climate Scientists Behaving Badly

You remember the story – scientists at the University of East Anglia (in England) were pretty much caught red-handed, in their own emails, cooking the books and trying to stifle any opposing viewpoints on global warming/climate change.  It was all over the news, right?  Wait a minute, no it wasn’t.  ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, etc. all but ignored the story.

FOX and talk radio and conservative bloggers were all over it, so the odds are, if you read this blog, you knew about it.  But many of your fellow citizens hadn’t even heard about it (including, according to him, Congressman Steve Driehaus who in response to a question from Brian Thomas on 55KRC stated “I’m not familiar with what you’re talking about.”)

The email news story came at a particularly INCONVENIENT time for the global warming/climate change alarmists because Copenhagen was just getting underway and countries like the United States were being targeted to shift more of their wealth (through Cap and Trade) to third world countries (with the willing cooperation of the Obama Administration and the Pelosi Congress).

Well it turned out it wasn’t bad enough that the leftist climate change warriors were suppressing contrary views, they DUMPED all of the original temperature data that their dire warnings of impending doom were based on, allegedly to save space!  Right.  That means that it’s now impossible to go back and check basic calculations upon which much of the global warming/climate change predictions are based.  With this in mind, I did a double take when a headline on the inside of the Enquirer caught my attention “Emails Don’t Negate Data.”  The Associated Press writers of the article, who obviously swallowed hook, line and sinker the global warming apologists’ story, said that even though the emails showed that the global warming scientists “stonewalled skeptics and discussed hiding data,” the emails “don’t support claims that the science of global warming was faked.”  And even though the emails showed “a stunning disdain for global warming skeptics,” and that “climate scientists behaved badly” that they found “no evidence of falsification or fabrication of data, although concerns could be raised about some instances of ‘generous interpretation’.”

Now wait a minute, how can they come to the conclusion that there’s “no evidence of falsification or fabrication of the data,” IF THE DATA HAS BEEN DUMPED?

It’s just another example of many in the press, and many in the academic/scientific community having bought into the whole global warming/climate change “religion,” no matter what the facts are.  Yes, let’s protect the environment, protect the earth for that matter; but, let’s make sure it’s based on sound science.
