Hillary No – Carly Yes

Well, Hillary finally officially kicked off her campaign for the presidency Sunday on Roosevelt Island in New York.  Of course she’s had her eye on running for the top job for quite some time now – probably since her husband left office 15 years ago.  In fact, she’s probably entertained thoughts about eventually being our President far earlier than that.  Whatever.

It’s been a consistent narrative with the mainstream press that Barack Obama and Hillary are brilliant people.  Much smarter than their Republican counterparts.  However, it’s interesting to note that whereas Barack Obama won’t leave home without his teleprompter, and Hillary used one for her announcement speech, virtually none of the Republican candidates depended on a teleprompter for their announcement speeches.  (Maybe they weren’t smart enough to figure out how to use one.)

1

As for Hillary’s speech itself, it was just a bunch of liberal claptrap.  Redistribution of wealth.  Free this and free that.  Let someone else pick up the cost of your free education – from preschool through college.

Her husband famously said in one of his State of the Union Addresses that “the era of big government is over.”  (I remember; I was there.)  If Hillary is serious about what she’s saying, the mega-government started under Barack Obama (the Stimulus, Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, Cap and Trade) will be on steroids under a President Hillary Clinton.

2

She also rails against “the Rich.”  They’ve gotten what they have unfairly, and the system is stacked against everybody else.  She claims she’ll be on the side of the middle class and lower income folks.  The irony is that even though she claimed she and Bill were “flat broke” not that long ago, they’re now apparently worth something north of $100 million due to questionable speech making opportunities, Clinton Foundation income and perks, and general wheeling-dealing.  Hillary looking out for the little guy doesn’t pass the smell test.

4

Hillary also thundered that women should make just as much as men.  (She failed to mention that the women who worked in her own Senate office, were paid less than their male counterparts.)

And of course she played her trump card; if she’s elected, she’ll be our first woman president.  I would submit that there is already someone else in the race who would foot this description and at the same time is far more qualified, and far more impressive in virtually every category, than Hillary Clinton.  And that’s Carly Fiorina.

5

Carly started her career as a secretary (not Secretary of State) and through her own merits, worked her way up the ladder to become Chief Executive of one of the largest technology companies on the globe.  She was the first woman to head a Fortune 50 company, Hewlett-Packard.

6

And she’s tough.  She battled breast cancer, and won.  She and her husband suffered through the loss of a daughter.  And she took on the liberal lion, Senator Barbara Boxer, in the bluest of blue states, California, which Barack Obama had carried with 61% of the vote in the previous election.  She didn’t win, but she put up a heck of a fight, and gained experience which will be  invaluable in the fight against Hillary ahead.

7

And of all the Republican presidential candidates thus far, she’s the one who has taken the fight most directly and most effectively to Hillary.  Rather than describe how effective she’s been in this effort, if you click here, you can see for yourself.

See you next week.
