La Salle’s whole team this season was impressive, but junior running back Jeremy Larkin ran over 2,500 yards in 15 games, and scored 42 touchdowns. This is the first season La Salle has competed in division II, which is for schools with fewer students than division I. La Salle during the regular season still plays a number of division I teams, like Elder, Moeller, Colerain, and St. Xavier. (They beat Elder, Moeller, Colerain, and everybody else they played this year, except the St. X Bombers who beat La Salle 24-21.)
So congratulations La Salle for your tremendous accomplishment. And you did it with a lot of class.
Now for a little reminiscing. La Salle is my alma mater. I graduated in 1971. And played football all four years.
My junior year we went 7 and 3 (I started at defensive tackle), and my senior year (I started at defensive middle guard, also called nose guard) we won 7, lost 1 (Moeller), and tied 2 (Elder 0 to 0 in the Pit, and St. X 18 to 18).
