National Jobless Rate Hits 8 1/2%

The jobless number just came out, and the Nation’s unemployment rate shot up to 81/2 % in March.  663,000 new people lost their means of supporting themselves and their families.  That means a record 13.2 million Americans are out of work.

Teenagers have been particularly hard hit, with an unemployment rate 21.7%.  And these are the folks whose contribution to the workforce is supposed to keep the social security checks coming to future generations of seniors.

So what is the Democrat-controlled Congress and the Obama administration’s response?  Let’s raise taxes on the very people who could create new jobs and retain those who are currently in danger of losing their jobs – small business people.

And while we’re at it, let’s pass a budget that puts us on a glide path to nationalized healthcare, make the US Congress in effect a National School Board, and dramatically increase energy costs at the pump and in our homes through a voodoo cap & trade policy.

Well, I say enough is enough.  We need lower taxes, not higher on the very people who create most of the jobs in our economy – small business people.  In fact, the best thing we could do to give this economy a shot in the arm would be to lower the tax burden on all Americans.  And while we’re at it, let’s restrain the out-of-control spending in Washington which threatens to bankrupt us all.

That’s the way to get our employment numbers heading in the right direction again.
