Well, it’s happened again. President Obama’s proposed budget came up for a vote in the House of Representatives at the end of March, and not only did it not get a single Republican vote, but it didn’t get a single Democrat vote either. It went down in flames 0 – 414.
(The House did pass the Republican/Ryan Budget, so the House at least passed a budget to somewhat restrain the out-of-control spending at the federal level.)
The Democrat-controlled Senate just last week voted on the President’s budget too. And just like in the House, not only did the President’s budget not get any Republican votes, but it didn’t get a single Democrat vote there either. 0-99.
Unfortunately, unlike the Republican-controlled House, Harry Reid’s Senate once again failed to pass any budget at all. The outrage is that the Democrat Senate hasn’t passed a budget in over 1,000 days now – in fact, not in over 1,100 days! What are they getting paid for?
The fact that the President’s budget, just like last year, couldn’t garner a single vote from either party shows just how unserious a budget it really was. It was so lacking in actually addressing the serious financial issues facing our nation, that not one Member of Congress, House or Senate, Democrat or Republican, would be associated with it.
As far as I’m concerned, that probably illustrates as well as anything why it is so important that we remedy this lack of leadership at the top this November, and make sure that Barack Obama is a one term President.
