An article appeared in the Cincinnati Enquirer this past Sunday, April 26th, entitled “Incoming Democrats Show Independence.” The point of the article was that a number of Democrats who were elected to Congress for the first time this past November ran as fiscal conservatives who were not going to just be rubber stamps for liberal Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
And a number of Democrats have so far actually lived up to that pledge. Three particular votes were used as examples of bucking the liberal leadership. These moderate Democrats voted against Pelosi on a vastly expanded government-paid healthcare program, a pay discrimination bill, and the mammoth $3.6 trillion Obama budget.
Our Congressman, Steve Driehaus, rather than joining these moderate Democrats and voting against these bills, voted with Pelosi – on all three! So much for the fiscal discipline Driehaus promised; he has been a rubber stamp for the liberal Pelosi agenda time and time again.
In fact, his very first vote in Congress was to make this big-spending, San Francisco liberal, the Speaker of the House. He voted for her so called, economic stimulus package, and all the pork it contained, without even taking the time to read the monstrosity. And Driehaus has been such a reliable vote for her agenda, that Nancy Pelosi and the liberal Democratic leadership gave him thousands of dollars, in just the first three months of this year.
I wonder why.
