2 Weeks

We are now less than two weeks away from one of the most important midterm elections in many years. And of course many people have already voted, or will vote prior to the actual election day (Tuesday, November 8), by absentee ballot or by going directly to the board of elections.

Why is this election so important? Because the Democrats have made such a mess of things since they took over complete control of our federal government just a few years back. We had $2 gas, and now it’s double that. We had virtually no inflation, and now it’s at a 40 year high. We had a secure southern border, and now it’s wide open, resulting in nearly 3,000,000 people traipsing across our border, an all time high. And after the embarrassing Afghanistan debacle, the world’s worst actors have been running amok.

Unfortunately, the fecklessness of Democrats in Washington has often been matched by Democratic fecklessness at the local level. For example, right here in Cincinnati we’ve got Greg Landsman. He’s the guy who thought it was a great idea to defund the police at a time that Cincinnati was experiencing historically high homicide rates. He’s also the guy who voted to raise our taxes (eight times!) when he wasn’t even paying his own. And he’s the guy who in our recent debates kept calling me a liar, when the judge handling his case said that he had “lied to the public”, “that he should resign“ and that “no one should ever vote for him again.” Talk about the pot calling the kettle black, as my late 101-year-old mother-in-law used to say.

Watching the news over the past few weeks, it’s easy to see why so many people in this country, and this community, believe that things have got to change.

People getting pushed onto the subway tracks in New York City, seemingly randomly. And this at a time when officials like my opponent Greg Landsman not only want to defund the police but want to end cash bail so dangerous criminals can be rushed back onto the street before they can be tried for the offenses they’ve already committed. The Dem mayor of New York City by the way says it’s just a perception that people are less safe (tell that to the guy lying on the subway tracks!)

Locally, we’ve had mail carriers being held up at gunpoint, and their master key to multiple mailboxes stolen. This gives criminals access to those mailboxes and it’s estimated that several million dollars worth of checks have already been stolen. Isn’t it a sad state of affairs, when it’s not even safe to mail a letter anymore, and instead one has to consider whether to take it directly to the post office? And this at a time when we’re paying about four dollars a gallon, so who can afford it?

And a three-year-old child is shot and killed in the Cincinnati neighborhood of Madisonville – three years old!

Look, even though the Democrats are determined to make this year‘s election all about abortion, or January 6, I think it’s really about two other things: inflation and crime (due to failed Democrat policies.)

I believe the Democrats are about to pay a heavy price for their callous disregard for what the American people want, and deserve – safe neighborhoods, and affordable prices. We’ll know if I’m right in two weeks.
