34 Days

Well, we’re now just under five weeks (34 days to be exact) away from a pretty significant American election. Although the presidency is not on the line this time, a third of the US Senate, and all of the United States House of Representatives, is up for grabs.

Of course even though the actual election day this year is November 8 (by law, the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November – meaning election day can never fall on November 1) people in Ohio and in other states across the country are more and more taking advantage of absentee voting, voting by mail, and in some states even voting online.

So election day in some states could more accurately be called election week or election month.

However states do it, it should be easy to vote, but hard to cheat. And as compared to a lot of other states, Ohio has a pretty good track record on that. Despite that fact, Democrats in Washington tried to take away Ohio and every other state’s requirement to show proof of who you are when you vote by showing a driver’s license or some other comparable form of identification. (Wonder why the Democrats would want to do that!)

So how’s this election cycle going in our race? Pretty well I think. Just had a debate two nights ago with my opponent this year, former Pelosi-staffer Greg Landsman. Congressman Warren Davidson and his opponent Vanessa Enoch participated in the debate too, which took place at the School for the Creative and Performing Arts. You can re-watch the debate here. Channel 12’s Paula Toti MC’d it.

Campaigns have gotten more and more expensive over the years (like everything else) and so fundraising is an important part of being able to pay for TV ads, yard signs, literature, etc. Congressman Jim Jordan was kind enough to come to Cincinnati last night to do a fundraiser for my campaign at the Western Hills Country Club. It was a great event, and if you were there, thank you very much.

If you missed it, but would still like to help, guess what. I’ve got another fundraiser tomorrow afternoon from 11:30 AM to 1 PM at the Lytle Park Hotel downtown. Tickets are still available, although selling like hotcakes, as Senator Rob Portman is the headline speaker at this not-to-be missed event. For details call 513-300-0410.

I’m feeling more and more confident that we are going to take back the House this year and take the gavel out of Nancy Pelosi‘s hands (that can’t happen quickly enough.) The Senate is looking more and more within reach too, and if you’d like to help to make that happen, please support JD Vance in his effort to make sure that Taxin’ Tim Ryan doesn’t replace a great senator like Rob Portman.

As you probably know, our district, as a result of redistricting, got a lot tougher for Republicans this year. We went from a three point Trump district to a nine point Biden district due to the fact that ALL of the city of Cincinnati is now contained within the First Congressional District rather than just MOST of it. We are working hard to make sure that a common sense conservative (like me) doesn’t get replaced by a rubber-stamp vote for Nancy Pelosi.

If you’d like to help in that effort, you can volunteer, sign up for a yard sign, or contribute online, or send a check to Chabot for Congress 5750 Given Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45243.

Thanks in advance for your help! And see you next week.
