6 Days

We are now only six days from what could be one of the most consequential midterm elections in a long, long time. My sense is the American people are fed up with disastrous Democrat policies which have brought us 40-year-high inflation rates, out-of-control crime in cities across the nation, and a southern border which no longer exists. Americans are chomping-at-the-bit to take back their country.

Illustrative of the crime wave sweeping the nation was the brutal and despicable attack on Speaker Pelosi’s husband in their own home in San Francisco last weekend. Upon hearing of the attack, I condemned it, saying: “Deeply disturbed by the violent attack on Speaker Pelosi‘s husband, Paul. Donna and I are praying for a speedy recovery. Violence is never warranted and certainly has no place in our civil discourse. The attacker should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

But unfortunately, some politicians and political pundits on the left tried to blame Republicans for the attack, despite the fact that the lunatic who did it, a guy named David DePape, was described by the mother of his three children as “a nudist activist“ who “is mentally ill,” had “attempted to abduct a 14-year-old boy near a Berkeley (California) high school,” and was politically “a progressive.”

Further, in Rahm Emanuel‘s political advice of “never letting a crisis go to waste,” The Left conveniently forgets to mention a slew of violent attacks against Republicans. Just a few that come to mind, are the attempted assassination of Supreme Court Justice Kavanaugh following the Dobbs decision a few months back, the recent knife attack on New York Republican gubernatorial candidate Lee Zeldin on a stage during a speech, the attack on Senator Rand Paul both on his own property and after the Republican national convention event held at the White House in Washington DC, and of course the attempted assassination of Republican leader Steve Scalise and more than a dozen other Republican Members of Congress, including our own Brad Wenstrup, on a baseball field outside Washington a few years back by a Bernie Sanders supporter.

All violence against political figures, their family members, and against anyone else in this country for that matter, is totally unacceptable and must be rejected by all, regardless of party, religion, skin color, or any other categorization. And the perpetrators of such crimes ought to be arrested, thrown in jail, not given no-cash-bail that puts them back on the street almost immediately to commit more crimes, and then after a fair trial, if convicted, they ought to be locked up and serve the full term they’re sentenced to.

Okay, back to the most consequential midterm election in a long, long time. Please, please, please – vote! And if you have friends and family members who love this country, and want to get us back on the right track, make sure they vote too.

Because this is our chance. This is our opportunity. To make us once again, as Ronald Reagan famously said, “that shining city upon a hill.”

We’re better than people being pushed on subway rails. We’re better than 40-year-high inflation rates. We’re better than Mexican drug cartels killing more than 100,000 Americans each year with the death they smuggle across our southern border. We’re better than an 82-year-old man being attacked in his own home by a “mentally ill progressive nudist activist” with a hammer.

And recognizing that fact begins in just six days – Tuesday, November 8 (or before that if you vote early.)

Thank you for helping to save our country.
