A Clear Choice

I don’t think I’ve ever had an opponent whose positions on the issues have been in such stark contrast with my own. Of course Greg Landsman is entitled to his positions, but I certainly hope he is never in a position to advance them on our nation. He’s already done enough damage at the local level.

Let’s begin with public safety. I’ve always believed that people should have the right to live in safe neighborhoods, and that to accomplish this, those of us in authority should work with, and continuously strengthen and improve and support, law-enforcement.

My opponent’s record on supporting our police is the polar opposite of that. At a time when the City of Cincinnati was experiencing record high homicide rates, Mr. Landsman thought it was a good time to defund the police. He voted to cut the police budget by $1 million, and he also tried to take another $200,000 away from the police and give it to the folks who pursue complaints against the police. Mr. Landsman denies that what he did constituted defunding the police, but the head of the Cincinnati police union, Dan Hils, says that’s exactly what it was, and Channel 5 who did a story on it reported that what he did was “the definition of defunding the police.” (By the way, the FOP here in Cincinnati and in Warren County have endorsed me, and not my opponent.)

Another stark difference between myself and Mr. Landsman is on taxes. I’ve been called the communities “anti-tax crusader” and have voted for every tax cut bill in Congress over the last quarter century. Laughably, Mr. Landsman is currently running an ad out-and-out lying, saying I voted to raise taxes. His source for this whopper is that I, along with every other Republican in Congress, voted for President Trump‘s Tax CUTS and Jobs Act a few years back! You can’t make this stuff up.

Unlike being a longtime tax cutter like myself, my opponent is the real deal when it comes to raising taxes. He voted to raise taxes eight times on City Council. He voted to raise the property tax even though he said it was too high. He wanted to raise the sales tax. And even though he had no problem raising everyone else’s taxes, it turns out he wasn’t paying his own! (He was slapped with a Judgment for unpaid taxes earlier this year.)  And he agrees with the Democrat plan to hire 87,000 new IRS agents!

Mr. Landsman and some of his cohorts on City Council were also the subject of a three-year investigation, which found them guilty of illegally conducting public business in secret. The presiding judge in the case said from the bench that they had “lied to the public, should resign from office”, and that “no one should ever vote for“ them again. And Mr. Landsman was fine with letting the taxpayers foot the $170,000 bill  for their nefarious actions, rather than paying for it himself. (A lot like letting everyone else pay higher taxes even though he wasn’t paying his own.)

There are a lot more stark differences between my opponent and myself, but in respecting your time, I’ll leave it there.

Finally, even though my opponent is exceedingly flawed as a candidate, Nancy Pelosi, whom Mr. Landsman used to work for, and left-wing organizations all over the country are dumping huge amounts of money into this race.

I could really use your help financially to get our message out. If you’ve already helped, thank you, but would you consider helping again? And if you haven’t yet helped, please do!
