A Terrible Bill, and Crisis at the Border

The hardest of the hard left is driving the American train right now. And we’re heading for a cliff.

Joe Biden has (with the help of a sympathetic press), successfully convinced the majority of Americans that he is a moderate, reasonable chief executive. That he wants unity. Let’s all just get along and work together.

But it’s the mindset of Bernie Sanders and AOC that is in charge in Washington right now. The so-called COVID relief bill, that just passed the House, the Senate, and was signed into law by President Biden, epitomizes what we’re all in for.

Despite Biden‘s promise to work with Republicans, Democrats rammed this gigantic nearly $2 trillion bill through Congress with zero Republican input (and as a result got zero Republican votes for it.) And both Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden‘s spokespeople accurately described it as “the most progressive bill in American history.”

Despite the fact that it’s called a COVID relief bill, only 9% of the money in it actually goes for COVID relief (and only 1% towards a vaccine.) Instead, much of the money goes to bail out blue states for terrible liberal policies they’ve instituted over the years. Money goes to illegals. Money goes to felons behind bars. (Remember, this is all your hard-earned tax dollars.) And we don’t have the money in the first place – we’re just adding more debt onto our children and grandchildren.

And perhaps the worst thing this disgrace-of-a-bill does, is to reverse welfare reform progress that’s been made over the years, often in a bipartisan manner. For example, when Bill Clinton was president, and Republicans controlled the House, one of the most significant welfare reforms of all time was passed – linking the receipt of welfare payments to work. The bill that Biden just signed into law cuts that vital connection – the philosophy being “it’s demeaning to require a person to work for a welfare check.“ Unfortunately, this important aspect of the bill has gotten virtually no attention in the media coverage.

And that’s one of the greatest challenges Republicans have had opposing this gargantuan bill – the media have been cheerleaders for it. The only thing they focused on is how much money people are going to receive – and how soon is it going to come? And if the press feels particularly inquisitive, what’s the money going to be spent on? Never where’s the money going to come from – or do we really have it in the first place? The lack of critical press now, versus the way it covered the previous administration, is jaw-dropping (although not unexpected.)

All this new spending by the way, is going to result in something the mainstream press is also totally ignoring, higher, much higher, taxes. Pelosi dodged answering the question several times over the weekend, but coyly admitted that they would be “looking at” higher taxes. Hold onto your wallets – higher taxes are definitely coming.

One other thing I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention – Biden‘s self-inflicted chaos at our southern border. The Trump administration’s border control policies had actually been working – illegal entry into this country was going down. The Wall was actually working, as well as common sense reforms like working with Mexico and other countries to keep people there pending their hearings, rather than letting them come here and disappear into the interior of the country before their immigration hearings were ever held.

Biden’s message to the world: “our borders are open, come on in.” That message was heard loud and clear, and massive illegal entry has ramped back up – and they’re coming. Ironically, the press had flocked to the “kids in cages” Democrat-spun stories during the Trump administration (even though the infamous photos shown over and over on TV had actually been taking during the Obama administration); now we’re seeing kids in cages or kids in shipping containers under Biden, but far less if any criticism of the Biden administration by the press. The double standard is obvious for all to see.

Who benefits from this chaos at our southern border? Well, the Democrats think they do. Because the majority of those coming here illegally will eventually be Democrat voters. And who else benefits? The drug cartels. Human trafficking and drug trafficking go hand in hand. The cartels are charging thousands and thousands of dollars per person to smuggle illegal immigrants across the border. Girls and young women are particularly vulnerable to exploitation through sexual assault, rape, and even murder. The cartels actually now use wrist bracelets to show who has paid which cartel (like something you’d see at an amusement park.)

How long will we tolerate such lawlessness at our border?
