In Georges Orwell’s dystopian classic novel, 1984, there were four government ministries: the Ministry of Peace which oversaw war, the Ministry of Plenty which promoted starvation, the Ministry of Love which tortured people, and the Ministry of Truth which lied to people. Well, the Biden administration, apparently believing it hasn’t screwed up the country enough yet, has decided to foist on us what amounts to a Ministry of Truth of its own (they call it the Disinformation Governance Board.)
Ironically, the creation of a disinformation board was announced by one of the biggest liars on the Biden team, Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. Talk about spreading disinformation, this is the guy who claims that the Biden administration has “secured the southern border”! For whom, the drug cartels?
We have higher illegal crossings at our southern border than we’ve ever seen. And if they follow through with ending the enforcement of Title 42, it’s going to get even worse.
Perhaps the greatest irony is that the Biden administration and its leftist allies have been alleging that folks on the right have been spreading disinformation, when it’s in fact The Left that’s been doing exactly that, for a long time. It was The Left that came up with the fictional Steele Dossier, promoted the Russian collusion hoax, claimed that the Hunter Biden laptop was a Russian fabrication, denied there was any connection between the Wuhan lab and COVID (when it’s more and more looking like that’s exactly where it started), and dismissed concerned parents at school board meetings as nothing more than “domestic terrorists.”
The reality is that leftists today are master projectionists. Shady practices that they are guilty of, spewing disinformation for example, they accuse their opponents of doing. Running negative campaigns, raising and spending so-called “dark money”, questionable election practices like vote harvesting, gerrymandering, being racist, are some of the things that come to mind that Democrats/leftists are guilty of, but project such behavior onto Republicans.
Look, we don’t need the federal government creating a Ministry of Truth, or Disinformation Governance Board, or whatever you want to call it. We have a First Amendment protecting free speech in this country. We don’t need Washington calling balls and strikes for us.
Instead of wasting our time, and tax dollars, on this absurdity, the Biden administration ought to be using the Department of Homeland Security to get control of our border; they ought to be reversing their disastrous energy policies which have driven gas prices to well over four dollars per gallon (I paid $5.19 a gallon at a gas station just outside Washington DC on Monday), and they ought to stop the excessive government spending in order to bring skyrocketing inflation down.
Hope Joe Biden is listening (but he’s probably not.)
