Begging the Saudis

If the Biden administration isn’t the most incompetent administration in modern US history (it’s hard to surpass Jimmy Carter‘s screw-ups), it’s got to be in the running.

First they drug our nation’s economy into a hole by doing everything possible to discourage our nation’s energy production. Shut down the Keystone XL pipeline. Made it next to impossible to get leases and permits to drill for oil and gas in the US, onshore and off. Strangled refinery and pipeline projects with overly-excessive regulations. Rammed radical Green New Deal policies down our throats whether we liked it or not. And on and on.

As a direct result of these policies, we’ve seen the price of gas at the pump more than double since Biden took office. Yes, prices have come down slightly in the past few weeks from their highs, principally because people are combining trips and canceling vacation plans, etc. But prices are still nearly twice what they were when Biden raised his right hand.

So what’s a president to do? Well this one rode off to Saudi Arabia, a nation Joe Biden had sworn to make a “pariah state” and have nothing to do with. You see, it’s leader crown prince Mohammed Ben Salman Al Saud (MBS for short) was behind the brutal murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Mr. Khashoggi‘s remains were disposed of by means of, among other things, a bone saw. The whole thing was about as ghastly and grisly and reprehensible as one hears about in modern times.

Rather than unleash the private sector in the United States to drill for its own oil and gas, Biden decided to take merely symbolic action, and released oil from our strategic petroleum reserve. Not only did this bring our reserve level down to its lowest point in 37 years, but even more outrageously, nearly one million barrels were allowed to go to a Chinese company that Hunter Biden had been an investor in.

So now as a result of Joe Biden‘s boneheaded energy policies, he has put the United States in the unenviable position that we have to go hat-in-hand to the likes of Venezuela and Iran and now Saudi Arabia‘s MBS to get energy prices down to a level that we can live with. It’s just nuts.

And by the way, speaking of incompetence, last week marks one year since perhaps the worst foreign-policy debacle in American history – the chaotic withdrawal from Afghanistan. President Biden said we’re getting out – NOW, no matter what the generals say, promising that we “wouldn’t see people being lifted off the US Embassy roof by helicopter” (like we’d seen in Vietnam.) And then we saw people being lifted off from the embassy roof, and worse, people falling off planes to their deaths.

Biden trusted the Taliban to keep their word – for example, this new Taliban would allow women and girls to attend school. Except that the Taliban didn’t keep their word, and women and girls were barred from attending school past the six grade.

And billions and billions of dollars in military vehicles, weapons, and equipment were left behind in Afghanistan because of the chaotic withdrawal, and are now in the hands of the bad guys. The cluelessness of the Biden administration in this matter is just breathtaking.

Fortunately, there is an election coming up in less than four months, when the American people will be able to express just how they feel about the Biden administration’s incompetence, corruption, and cluelessness.
