Biden’s First 500 Days

Last week the Biden administration passed the 500 day mark since they took over back on Inauguration Day, January 20, 2021. Since the Democrats also control the House of Representatives and the Senate, how are we doing under total Democrat control? Not very well.

First of all, the economy is a mess. When Biden was sworn in, inflation was at 1.7%. It’s skyrocketed to a shocking 8.3% in less than a year-and-a-half. We’re getting killed with food prices at the grocery store. And prices at the gas pump are up a bone-jarring 43.6% in just one year’s time!

And the nerve-racking inflation is almost completely self-inflicted by the Democrats‘ policies, despite their efforts to shift the blame elsewhere. Their radical Green New Deal/climate change agenda has killed the energy independence the previous administration had successfully attained. Declaring war on American energy, killing the Keystone XL Pipeline (and it’s thousands and thousands of good paying jobs), and discouraging drilling and fracking have pushed gas prices and home heating and cooling prices through the roof.

Then, ignoring Republican warnings, they pushed huge amounts cash out onto an already overheated economy, further driving up inflation. The nearly $2 trillion so-called COVID Relief Bill only spent 9% on actual COVID relief, the rest of it going to pork and Democrat pet projects, and paying people not to work further exacerbated inflation.

Joe Biden claimed that inflation would be temporary (transitory.) Biden’s Treasury Secretary, Janet Yellen, admitted last week that “I think I was wrong about the path that inflation would take… I didn’t at the time fully understand.” Of course now we’re all paying the price (the high price) of the highest inflation we’ve seen in the last 40 years.

The Democrats’/Biden‘s follies didn’t end there. The chaos at our southern border is worse than we’ve ever seen it. President Trump‘s wall, and strict enforcement of American immigration laws, such as ending “catch and release” and the very effective “remain in Mexico” policy had obtained a relatively satisfactory level of control at the border. Biden reversed all that, on day one. The result has been an utter and complete disaster at our southern border.

Huge numbers of people are surging illegally across that border. The numbers are staggering, higher than we’ve ever seen. And the drug cartels are not only making a killing smuggling people in, but the drugs they’re surging into our country are killing more Americans than ever before, over 100,000 last year. Fentanyl is the drug of choice, which is 50 times more deadly than heroin. The amount of fentanyl seized last year was enough to kill 2.4 billion people, (1/3 of the earth’s population.) And that’s just what was seized. It’s estimated that 90% of smuggled drugs get through, so it’s no wonder that so many people are dying.

Then there’s the spike in crime across our country. Democrats run our cities, and they’ve been pushing dangerous so-called “bail reform” policies, and “defund the police” efforts. Democrats in Congress want to end “qualified immunity,” which would mean allowing police officers to be personally sued, putting at risk their savings, their pensions, and their children’s college education funds. Who’s going to want to be a police officer?

Law enforcement feels less supported. And we’ve seen police retirements up by 45%, and resignations up 18%. The result has been record levels of crime, particularly homicides, in many cities across the country.

Then there’s the supply chain mess, the baby formula crisis, the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle, and on and on.

No wonder Biden‘s approval numbers are so low. And Democrats are terrified that they are going to be trounced at the polls this November. They richly deserve it.

Their policies have hurt this country tremendously. All indications are the public wants to reverse the devastation wrought by complete Democrat control of Washington.

Remember in November.
