Joe Biden‘s handling of the Afghanistan pullout was such a debacle that even the mainstream press was critical. Not as negative as the coverage on FOX, or Newsmax, or Breitbart, but let’s face it, any criticism of Biden by the mainstream press is pretty unusual. So you know he screwed things up badly when even his reliable cheerleaders in the media couldn’t look the other way, or cover for him.
As a result, Biden’s poll numbers have fallen, substantially. And if that continues, the Democrats’ grip on the House and Senate could be at risk in 2022, and their grip on the White House in 2024. Of course the mainstream press doesn’t want to see either of those things happen, so we are already beginning to see a new dynamic occurring. The press has decided to change the subject – that’s enough coverage of Afghanistan, let’s talk about something else.
Even though there are still significant numbers of Americans stranded behind enemy lines in Afghanistan, and arguably even being held hostage, and even though there are thousands of our Afghan allies risking beheading or other forms of slaughter at the hands of the Taliban, and even though there are billions and billions of dollars of American weaponry and equipment now in the hands of the Taliban which could be distributed to a plethora of like-minded jihadist terrorist groups and used against the United States and our allies in the upcoming months and years, the mainstream press doesn’t want to talk about any of this anymore. Let’s talk about something else.
Like what? Well, let’s talk about the weather. More specifically, Hurricane Ida. Yes it did a significant amount of damage, especially in Louisiana. And yes, it did a lot of damage as it proceeded up the eastern part of our country, and caused substantial flooding in New York City. But to listen to knucklehead Mayor Bill de Blasio and many in the mainstream press opine that this is all due to CLIMATE CHANGE!!! Reminds me of the same predictions their ilk made following Hurricane Katrina, that climate change was going to mean more hurricanes and more powerful, and deadlier, ones at that. Then for the next 10 years, not one hurricane hit the US coast. So much for their breathless predictions.
Or let’s talk about abortion. The Supreme Court in a five to four decision refused to block a Texas “heartbeat law” from going into effect, and you’d have thought another asteroid the size of the one that wiped out the dinosaurs was heading our way. The mainstream press apparently figures this might rile up more pro-Biden supporters on the left to offset those soured by his feckless Afghanistan policy.
Or let’s talk about the ongoing COVID pandemic. Or the infrastructure bill. Or the $3.5 trillion Pelosi/Schumer boondoggle. Or, well you get it. Anything but Afghanistan.
And of course the Afghanistan blackout by the mainstream press at home will soon be matched by a much harsher, and deadlier, blackout in Afghanistan itself. Because I have long predicted that the Taliban will suppress press coverage by what remaining media there still is in Afghanistan (much like in North Korea, and Iran, and Cuba.) They’re already going door-to-door and slaughtering those who worked with the US, in front of their families, and often slaughtering their families as well. But the Taliban isn’t going to want these images, or reporting on the actions themselves, to get out to the rest of the world, so the press will be prevented from covering it. But I assure you, it’s happening.
And that’s why I continue to believe that Biden’s blunder in Afghanistan, is the worst foreign policy failure in American history, even if the mainstream press wants to change the subject.
