Well, the Biden administration is at it again. They are bound and determined to censor the Internet. We know that they are smarter, and purer and fairer than the rest of us. And the government, particularly one under the complete control of Joe Biden and the Democrats, should be able to control what we all say and what we are all able to read over the Internet.
They tried to do this the first time a few months back. The guy who probably has the least credibility in the Biden administration, Homeland Security head Mayorkas (he’s the guy who says with a straight face that they’ve “secured the southern border”) announced the so-called Disinformation Governance Board. It got so panned by virtually everybody as a “Ministry of Truth” right out of George Orwell’s dystopian novel “1984” that the thing got dropped like a hot potato.
It didn’t help that the person they’d picked to head it, one Nina Jankowicz, proved to be as incompetent as Kamala Harris – well almost as incompetent. Ms. Jankowicz it turned out had repeatedly spread disinformation herself, for example claiming that Hunter Biden’s good ole laptop was just Russian/Trump disinformation. And the coup de grace was when this bizarre TikTok video of her was discovered and played for the world’s enjoyment.
But now they’re back again. This time they’re creating a “task force” to protect “political figures” (politicians) and “journalists” from “disinformation”, etc. Of course in the hands of the Biden administration, the politicians protected will most likely be Democrats – Republicans will no doubt continue to be fair game.
So who is the person with sufficient credibility to put in charge of such an august undertaking? Why Kamala Harris, of course. The person Joe Biden put in charge of securing our southern border. This can’t end well.
It’s worth noting that for all practical purposes, The Left has had a lock on most social media platforms for some time now, and it is Republican and conservative thought that has already been censored, even without direct government intervention. Maybe The Left is worried that their monopoly is at risk with Elon Musk’s potential takeover of Twitter, and his promise to allow it to “become a free speech haven.”
When the White House’s not-ready-for-primetime new spokesperson Karine Jean-Pierre, was asked about this new disinformation panel, she said she wasn’t familiar enough with it to comment, and referred press questions to Kamala Harris. And from Kamala, no comment.
What I said a few months back about the Disinformation Governance Board is equally relevant to this latest version of government censorship. We already have a First Amendment. We don’t need the government telling us what to say or what to think. They do that in China. They do that in North Korea. We don’t need it here.
