Is Hillary Running for President Again?

The latest speculation game making the rounds in the DC political world is, “Is Hillary Clinton going to give it another try at the White House?”

The thinking goes, Joe Biden is slipping fast, both mentally and at the polls. The odds are he’s not going to run again for a second term, even if he’s currently saying otherwise. And his vice president, Kamala Harris, has been an even bigger disaster than Biden’s been.

So if not Biden, and if not Kamala, who’s going to lead the Democrat ticket in 2024? Well, there are the also-rans from the Democrat nomination process last time around, like Pete Buttigieg and Cory Booker and Elizabeth Warren. But if they couldn’t beat a weak opponent like Joe Biden last time around, how strong a candidate would they be this time?

It’s also becoming a somewhat accepted point of view that one of the Democrats‘ greatest weaknesses is that they are far to the left of where most Americans are nowadays. Therefore, what they need is a more “moderate” nominee to bring them back closer to where the American people are on the issues. I know, describing Hillary Clinton as a moderate probably doesn’t sit well with anyone who’s been around politics for awhile. But the rest of the Democrat bench truly are a bunch of lefties.

So is she really going to do it? She has been making some of the right noises. For a while there she was mostly whining that the 2016 election had been stolen from her, and it was because she was a woman. Some Democrats believe that if Republicans take back the House, and or the Senate, that she could then run as a “change agent“ (the change of course being from a Republican Congress.)

Even her husband Bill is getting into the act. He described his wife Hillary as “the most qualified person to run for office in my lifetime, including me.” He went on to say that “not electing her in 2016 was one of the most profound mistakes we ever made.”

My gut tells me she enjoys the attention, and will continue to drop hints about being interested, but ultimately won’t run. I just don’t think she’s going to want to put herself through that meat grinder again, especially at her age. We’ll see.

OK, totally separate from politics – how bout dem Bengals! Going to the Super Bowl! Who-Dey!

All three of their playoff wins were truly a team effort. Yes, Joe Burrow’s role was key, but pretty much everybody did their part.

So next stop, LA. And this time (unlike ‘81 and ‘89) let’s win it all!
