Earlier this year, our fearless leader referred to ISIS (also known as ISIL) as the JV (Junior Varsity.) Barack Obama’s exact words were, “If a JV team puts on Lakers uniforms, that doesn’t make them Kobe Bryant.” (Kobe’s a really good basketball player, for all my non-basketball-fan readers out there.)
Since President Obama’s inane remark, the “JV” has taken over half of Iraq, and threatens to take over the other half. That’s after taking over a good portion of Syria.
And when ISIS takes over a region, the horrors have just begun. Men, women, and children are all fair game. Those who haven’t had their heads lopped off and put on a stake, are often lined up, executed in one manner or another, and pushed into a common pit. Sharia law is immediately imposed, and those who have survived to this point are given a choice – submit or die. Christians either convert to Islam, or are killed, along with their families.
Their latest outrage has ISIS targeting, for annihilation, tens of thousands of Yazidis (an Iraqi minority group), who have fled up a mountain, where they are starving and dying of thirst. ISIS also threatens another city nearby, Erbil, which is currently held by the most pro-American group in Iraq, the Kurds. Even the dithering Barack Obama felt that he finally had to act, and has ordered food and water air-drops, and limited U.S. airstrikes against ISIS.
This Administration’s underlying problem is its continued refusal to recognize what the U.S. and the entire civilized world faces, not only in Iraq, but around the globe – a radical Islamist Jihadi ideology that will stop at nothing to establish a caliphate, over the Middle East, and ultimately over the whole world. One of the ISIS fighters was seen on T.V. over the weekend declaring that they would not be satisfied until their flag was flying over the White House. Islam will be the only religion, sharia the only law, Allah the only god.
ISIS (ISIL) is but the latest (and perhaps the most dangerous) iteration of this virulent ideology. Al-Qaeda, that attacked us on September 11th; the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt (and elsewhere); the Taliban in Afghanistan; Jamaat-e-Islami in Pakistan and Bangladesh; Boko Haram in Nigeria; Ansar al-Sharia in Libya, Mali, and Tunisia; Hamas and Hezbollah are but a few of the more notorious examples of the metastasizing of this global cancer. The Ft. Hood shooter, the shoe bomber, the underwear bomber, and the Boston Marathon bombers are examples of individuals who have adopted the ideology, and decided to act on their own.
Despite all the evidence to the contrary, the Obama Administration seems blinded by their refusal to recognize the threat to America, and our way of life. The wolf is at the door, and they think it’s the Girl Scouts selling cookies.
As recently as two months ago, President Obama naively declared that “the world is less violent than it has ever been.” What world is he living in? And just last month, Obama’s chief press spokesman, Josh Earnest, claimed that the Obama Administration had successfully improved the “tranquility of the global community.” You’ve got to be kidding! Tell that to the tens of thousands of Yazidis on that mountain in Iraq, or to the families of the passengers on that Malaysian passenger plane shot down by Putin’s henchmen, or to the parents of those 300 Nigerian schoolgirls in the loving hands of Boko Haram. Tranquility indeed.
So sure, President Obama has finally decided to take limited, 11th-hour action, in part of Iraq. But had he not snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq when he impulsively pulled all U.S. troops (and influence) out, we wouldn’t be in this sad state of affairs there.
But let’s just blame Bush. It’s so much easier.
