President Obama’s Number One Goal

Shortly after President Obama was re-elected to a second term last November, he made two phone calls.  Neither of the calls was to his key ally in the Senate, Harry Reid, nor to Mitch McConnell, the lead Republican there.  Nor was one of the calls to Speaker John Boehner, whom Obama would have to work with  if he was to live up to his commitment to put aside party differences, and work together in a bipartisan manner for the good of the American people.

So who did the calls go to?  They went to Nancy Pelosi, former Speaker of the House, and to Congressman Steven Israel, the head of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (the DCCC.)  Israel is the guy in charge of electing Democrats to the House of Representatives.

Why these two?  Well, Israel was quoted in the Washington Post recently as saying that “the President understands that to get anything done, he needs a Democratic majority in the House.  To have a legacy in 2016, he will need a House majority in 2014, and that work has to start now.”

And just what would Obama’s desired legacy look like, if he is able to gain control of the House two years from now?  We can get a pretty good idea from what happened when Obama and his Democrat allies had complete control of the House and the Senate in 2009 and 2010.  Enacted into law: the bloated Stimulus, Obamacare, Dodd-Frank, etc.

So if the Democrats are able to win the House back in 2014, and hold the Senate, we can look forward to an Obama-generated, legacy-building agenda of bigger spending, even deeper debt, higher taxes, more power to Washington, more bureaucracy, and less freedom.  And on top of all that, we can look forward to a liberalization of our nation’s laws on guns, immigration, marriage, and abortion.

We have to look no further than Barack Obama’s handling of the recent Sequester impasse, to see that Barack Obama is in full campaign mode, rather than acting as a President interested in pulling us together for the good of the country.  It began with dire predictions of the grim consequences of the Sequester kicking in.  It continued with his refusal to accept Congress’s offer of additional flexibility to his Administration to make the across-the-board cuts less painful.  And it continues with apparent attempts to make the Sequester as painful as possible through petty cuts, such as terminating White House tours of school children.  (Ending White House tours will save about $3 million over a year’s time, whereas cutting back on the President’s own elaborate vacation schedule would save $20 million!)

There is other evidence of this President’s determination to win back the House, and thus once again totally control the federal government.  Obama has appointed his own re-election Campaign Manager, Jim Messina, to run his “take back the House” campaign.  Obama has re-organized his fanatically committed, grass roots campaign machine into a political army called Organizing for Action, with the dual mission of pushing his agenda into law by pressuring the existing Congress, and transforming the next Congress into just a rubber stamp for the Obama agenda.  And Barack Obama has already committed to doing eight high dollar fundraisers (with more to come) to raise huge amounts of money to finance his power grab.

So what can we do to stop Barack Obama?

We must prepare for this epic battle over control of the House of Representatives.  DCCC head, Steven Israel, and future Speaker-wannabe, Nancy Pelosi, are closely examining every Republican-held Congressional District across the country.  They are looking for signs of weakness and vulnerability.  They must win 17 seats from Republicans to take back the House.

And here’s where I’d like to ask for your help.  The size of each Republican’s war chest is the first thing they look at.  My campaign must report how much we have in the bank as of the end of the first quarter, March 31st.  I would greatly appreciate your willingness to make a contribution to my re-election efforts by clicking here, or you can send a check to Chabot for Congress, 3030 Harrison Ave., Cincinnati, OH 45211.

The more we are able to raise early, the less of a target I am likely to be to the DCCC.  And when you consider how big the stakes are, what the risk to our country is of total control of government back in the hands of Barack Obama, it’s a small price to pay.

Thank you in advance for your support.  And thank you for taking the time to read my weekly blog.

See you next week.
