She’s Ba-ack!

The Democrats in the House suffered the worst shellacking in more than 60 years last week, and all the political pundits were sure that one of the first orders of business would be for Nancy Pelosi to gracefully step aside and let someone else lead the new, reduced in size, and even more liberal Democratic Caucus.  But no – she’s staying.

And even more interesting is listening to Nancy Pelosi and President Obama’s explanation of why the Democrats lost so big last week.  They believe that it’s not that their policies were bad, it’s just that the American people didn’t appreciate how good the policies were, (Stimulus, Cap and Trade, health care) because either the Democrats didn’t communicate well enough, or the people were too stupid to appreciate how wonderful the policies were.

So it doesn’t sound like President Obama has any intention of making a midterm correction.  Nor does Nancy Pelosi acknowledge that her leftist, iron-fisted running of the House was soundly rejected by the American people.

And it’s important that Republicans in the House recognize that whereas we may be able to stop bad things from happening, the Senate is still controlled by Democrats, and Barack Obama is still President of the United States and wields a big veto pen.  So the next two years may not be pretty, but they sure will be interesting.

Republicans in Congress must prepare for a long, drawn-out fight against not only Democrats, and President Obama, but a Washington bureaucracy that’s determined to retain control, and grow and expand into every area of our lives.  We must fight this expansion with every core of our being.  And we can expect the mainstream press to paint us as cold-hearted, mean-spirited, uncaring barbarians – and worse.

I’m ready for the fight.  And I need you to stay involved, and have my back.
