The Greatest Threat

The greatest threat to the United States, now, through the next century, and probably beyond that, is China. For at least the last four decades, since the United States established diplomatic relations with The People’s Republic of China, one of our underlying foreign policy principles, has been that through increased trade and interaction between the United States and China, they would change their malevolent, wayward ways, and become more like us. They would become a more responsible entity in the community of nations.

Well, that has proven to be an utter and complete failure. Rather than become a more responsible actor on the world scene, they’ve become even more malevolent. They steal our intellectual property, our technology, and our jobs. In just the last year alone, they have brutally suppressed the people of Hong Kong; committed systematic genocide of the Uighurs; continued to brutalize and eradicate Tibetans; imprisoned, murdered, and involuntarily harvested organs from the Falun Gong; continued to bully and violate the sovereignty of virtually all their neighbor countries; suppressed the truth, resulting in the spread of the COVID pandemic across the globe that’s caused millions of deaths; and on and on. And that’s just in the last year.

And they have been engaged in a propaganda war against the United States for years now. Their goal is to cover up the truth about all the ways they are harming innocent people in their own country and across the globe, and smearing the United States with exaggerations, accusations, and outright lies.

Unfortunately, for some time now, they have been assisted in their effort to put the United States in the worst possible light, by some of this nation’s own top leaders. In fact, it starts at the very top, with the President of the United States. Joe Biden, for example, following the conviction of Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, once again accused the United States of “deep-seated systemic racism.”

Vice-president Kamala Harris and Speaker Nancy Pelosi have been accusing America of the same “systemic racism” for even longer. Make no mistake about it, there are racists in this country now, have been in America’s past, and unfortunately are likely to be in our future. But to denounce this country today as being a “racist nation” is just wrong. And it plays right into the hands of those who wish our country ill, particularly the Chinese Communist Party.

We must, of course, strive to root out intolerance, bigotry, and yes, racism, wherever it raises its ugly head. And work across political, ethnic, and racial lines to pull all Americans together for the greater good of all of us.

But to continue to denounce America, as being “systemically racist,” and then traveling down the accompanying track of for example defunding the police, in my view, undermines the greatest nation this world has ever known. And plays right into the hands of the entity that is the greatest threat to the United States – the Chinese Communist Party.
