The Leftists are Coming!

The United States Constitution requires that at least once every 10 years, we count how many people there are in the United States (a Census). As a result of that census, some states pick up seats in the House of Representatives, some states lose them, and others remain the same (the total number remains at 435.)

Ohio has been steadily losing seats over the last half-century or so (not because we’ve lost population, but because we haven’t gained population as rapidly as some southern and western states (principally due to immigration.) Our high-water mark was 24 representatives between 1933 and 43, and between 1963 and 73. As of next year, we’ll be down to 15, rather than the 16 we’ve had for the last 10 years.

The First Congressional District, which I’ve had the honor of representing for 26 of the last 28 years, changed, just as all other congressional districts did (except for districts making up a whole state, like for example Alaska and Wyoming.)

One of the principal changes which occurred with our district is that rather than MOST of the city of Cincinnati being contained within our district, ALL of the city of Cincinnati is contained within it. Since cities tend to contain more Democratic voters, our district went from a district Donald Trump defeated Joe Biden in by 3 points, to one where Joe Biden would have defeated Donald Trump by 8 1/2 points.

Interestingly, of the 208 Republican-held seats in the House (out of 435), only 10 of them are districts Biden won. What does that matter? Well, Democrats have promised to spend millions and millions of dollars in each of these districts to try to replace a Republican with a Democrat. In fact, one of the Democrat-leftist programs that raises obscene amounts of money for ultra-liberal candidates running against Republicans (like me) is called the Red to Blue Program (meaning Republican to Democrat.)

The Democrats also raise huge amounts of money from radical environmental groups, trial lawyers, teachers’ unions (as well as many other unions), Planned Parenthood, Moveon.org, Swing Left, and of course the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.)

What will they do with all that money? Run millions and millions of dollars worth of negative, misleading, and outright dishonest TV ads, against me and other Republican candidates across the country. Of course we’ve seen this many times over the years as I’ve held one of the few truly “swing” districts in Congress (one that could theoretically go either way.)

It could be particularly intense this year as Democrats think that every district Joe Biden won should be represented by a Democrat. A Democrat who would support and vote for the Biden/Pelosi/Schumer policies. Policies which have brought us nearly $5 per gallon gas, the highest inflation in four decades, and unprecedented rates of crime and homicide.

With your help, we won’t let that happen. We’ll run a high intensity, hard fought campaign, emphasizing issues that will counter the failed Biden policies that have so harmed this nation. A campaign which will emphasize policies to strengthen our economy, create jobs, make our communities safer, lower devastating inflation and high costs, lower taxes, and strengthen our position on the international scene.

And I’ll need your help. I need volunteers to go door to door; I need yard sign locations; and I’d greatly appreciate your financial support. You can send a check to Chabot for Congress 5750 Given Rd. Cincinnati, Ohio 45243, or you can contribute online.

Thank you in advance for your generous support. Together we can reverse the damage being done to this great country by the Democrats, and put us back on a realistic path to recovery.

Thanks again for your help. And see you next week.
