Traditionally, we’ve thought of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California as border states (with Mexico, not Canada.) The rest of us felt more insulated from the downsides of illegal immigration. But not anymore.
Virtually every state in America is now directly impacted by illegal entry at our southern border. How? Well, the Biden administration is putting illegals and asylum seekers on buses and planes, at taxpayer expense, often in the middle of the night when it’s not so obvious, and shipping them to communities all across the country. Many of these people are given court dates a year or more down the road – very few (less than one percent) will ever bother to show up in court. They just disappear into the population (and most will eventually vote Democrat.)
The Biden administration‘s reversal of just about every one of the Trump administration’s successful immigration policies has resulted in unprecedented levels of illegal entry into this country. So which policies did they reverse? Building the wall, ending catch and release, and supporting ICE for example. The result has been chaos at our southern border.
The one Trump policy Biden had not reversed, was enforcement of title 42. What’s title 42? It’s a clause in a 1944 public health law that allowed people trying to enter the United States illegally to be expelled quickly during a health emergency (COVID.) The Biden administration had still been enforcing it, (much to the chagrin of the AOC’s of the world), but just announced they’re caving to The Left and won’t be enforcing it anymore. That means even more illegals will be flowing in – and staying.
Look, I favor immigration. Legal immigration. But not the open borders philosophy of AOC, Bernie Sanders, and the Biden administration.
Just how unserious this administration takes controlling our border is probably best illustrated by who Biden put in charge of it – Kamala Harris. First she hemmed and hawed when asked if she’d ever been to the border; then acknowledged that, no, she hadn’t; but then said she hadn’t been to Europe either. Then she cackled uncontrollably.
And there’s something else we should never forget. The American taxpayer is the one footing the bill for the free bus and plane trips into the interior of our country, and the food and shelter provided to the masses of illegal immigrants, and their healthcare, and the child care and education costs, and the incarceration of those who are caught committing crimes, and on and on.
The American people deserve better. And they will get an opportunity to weigh in on this administration’s outrageous policies this November.
