Will They or Won’t They Debate?

The mainstream press has been trumpeting the story for several months now, that Joe Biden is up in the polls, and the election is pretty much over. Many Republicans, I think, have been taking solace in the belief that, A. The polls aren’t accurate, or B. The polls are weighted against Trump by having too many Democrats in the sample, or C. Trump supporters aren’t telling the truth to the pollsters, or D. All of the above.

Many Trump supporters believe that the debates are the thing that will turn this race around. Biden will have to finally come out of his basement and meet President Trump face-to-face, and his declining mental agility will be plain for all to see. But will the promised debates actually happen?

About a month back, liberal New York Times columnist Tom Friedman weighed in, recommending that Joe Biden pull back his agreement to debate President Trump. Friedman cynically suggested that Biden not debate unless President Trump releases his tax returns, and that a group of independent (Ha!) fact checkers be present at the debate to call balls and strikes. Friedman knew good and well that President Trump would never agree to such an arrangement, but it might just give Biden an excuse to not debate Trump at all. Pretty devious.

Then just last week, Bill Clinton‘s former White House press secretary, Joe Lockhart, was even clearer about the subject, saying Biden just shouldn’t debate President Trump at all, period. He basically said Trump lies all the time – use that as an excuse not to debate him. If Biden follows this advice, in my opinion, he’s forfeited his right to run for the Presidency.

OK, shifting gears, you might remember that in last week’s blog, I mentioned that if the Democrats (God forbid) win the trifecta this year, the House, the Senate, and the Presidency, our country was in a world of hurt, because they’d likely change the Senate filibuster rule, which would allow them to ram through the most liberal agenda we’ve ever seen in this country. The Green New Deal, and the rest of the Democrats’ socialist agenda would be in our immediate future.

Well none-other-than Barack Obama pretty much confirmed it last week. Elizabeth Warren had campaigned on getting rid of the filibuster; Joe Biden acknowledged that he would look into it; now Barack Obama confirmed it. At John Lewis‘s funeral service in Atlanta last week, Obama was talking about enacting the Left’s agenda, including making Washington DC and Puerto Rico our 51st and 52nd states, and he said “if it takes eliminating the filibuster…then that’s what we should do.”

And speaking of Barack Obama and Elizabeth Warren, they both recently endorsed my opponent in the upcoming election. That’s not really surprising, considering that I’m targeted by the DCCC (Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee), and other leftist groups once again this year. But what it does mean is more money pouring into my opponent’s campaign coffers.

In order to offset the Left, I could really use your help. You can help in one (or all) of three ways:

Thanks in advance for your help. See you next week.
