45

The number “45” plays an important part in this week’s blog.  And no, I’m not 45 – I passed that age-marker a little more than a decade ago.

Rather, spending is so out of control in Washington today, that for every dollar Congress now spends, 45 cents of it is borrowed!  Think of it.  Nearly one half of everything that is spent by the federal government today has to be borrowed, running up the debt and lowering the standard of living for us, our children and our grandchildren.

Historically, less than 15 cents of every dollar spent was borrowed, and it’s now been tripled.  And a disproportionate amount of the borrowing is from China.  This puts us and our economy at the mercy of a country that, shall we say, doesn’t necessarily have the best interests of the United States at heart.  We know that their ultimate goal is to replace the United States as the world’s superpower, sooner rather than later.

So what can we do?  STOP THE SPENDING.  Stop the government takeovers of the banks, insurance companies, automobile industry, and next on the list, a government healthcare takeover.

The other 45?  Only 45% of Americans polled (according to Rasmussen) now think that Obama is doing an acceptable job as President.  That number has plummeted by more than 20 points in just a matter of a few months.  Now obviously the souring of the public on the Pelosi/Reid/Obama so-called healthcare reform is a major part of it, but I also believe that the public is getting more and more concerned about an unprecedented spending spree in Washington and soaring debt as far as the eye can see.

This is especially true since in the past, the additional debt added to the overall national debt each year was referred to as the “B word” (since it was in the billions) and now for the first time in history, the annual deficit will be the “T word” (since it’s in the trillions).  The American people, as evidenced by the Tea Party Movement and tumultuous town halls across the country, are saying loud and clear that they’re mad as hell, and not going to take it anymore.
