ABC Turns its Programming Over to Obama

We’ve known that the Obama Administration and the Pelosi Congress have been chomping at the bit to, in effect, nationalize healthcare for quite some time.  In the words of President Obama’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel, never let a crisis go to waste, or in other words, use this country’s economic crisis as an excuse to push their left-wing agenda and say it’s necessary to get the economy moving again.  Whether it’s more and more government control of banks, insurance companies, the auto industry; or federalizing the nation’s schools, or socializing medicine, they’re well on their way.

We’ve also known that, for the most part, the mainstream media has been cheerleading for Obama during the Presidential campaign, and certainly since he took office.  Clear evidence of pro-Obama bias was documented when it was revealed that in Obama’s first 50 days in office, ABC, NBC and CBS in their nightly newscasts devoted 28 hours of coverage to Obama as compared to only 8 hours to George W. Bush in his first 50 days.  And not only did Obama get more than 3 times the amount of coverage that Bush got, but 58% of the stories were favorable to Obama compared to only 33% favorable to Bush.

But now ABC news is taking their bias to a new level.  Next week, on Wednesday June 24th, ABC is in effect turning over their programming to the Obama White House to promote the Administration’s push toward government-run healthcare.  ABC news anchor, Charlie Gibson, is scheduled to deliver the nightly World News from the Blue Room of the White House!

Then ABC plans a primetime special called “Prescription for America” which will be broadcast from the East Room of the White House.  And, oh by the way, they are only allowing those who support the Obama/Pelosi government healthcare plan to participate – they will exclude any input from those who oppose the plan!  It has also been revealed that ABC will widen its favorable coverage of the Obama/Pelosi plan by featuring it during Good Morning America, Nightline and on ABC’s web news.

Ken McKay, Chief of Staff for the Republican National Committee, fired off a letter to the head of ABC news complaining about ABC’s one-sided coverage, stating in part as follows: “As the national debate on healthcare reform intensifies, I am deeply concerned and disappointed with ABC’s astonishing decision to exclude opposing voices on this critical issue on June 24, 2009… Today, the Republican National Committee requested an opportunity to add our Party’s views to those of the President’s to ensure that all sides of the healthcare reform debate are presented.  Our request was rejected.  I believe that the President should have the ability to speak directly to the American people.  However, I find it outrageous that ABC would prohibit our Party’s opposing thoughts and ideas from the national debate, which affects millions of ABC viewers.”

Hopefully ABC will change its mind and allow for a fair discussion of this important national issue.  But don’t hold your breath.
